HGB
The Hatstand Green Beret (HGB) programme is a 2 year talent development scheme which aims to grow future IT professionals. We find the right individual and place them on site with the client for two years where they are developed, with bespoke training, mentoring and moulding, into a future star.
At the end of the 2 years, our clients have the option to convert the HGB for free to a full-time employee. Due to excellent performance, our clients often convert HGBs before the end of the 2 year programme. HGBs are not raw graduates and typically have 1 to 3 years previous relevant technical work experience in areas including development, testing and support using technologies such as Java, SQL, C# and UNIX. They typically come from heavily technology-dependent industries such as telecommunications, research, defence and retail.
How does it work?
All HGBs are employed by Hatstand but work for our Clients on-site. Client managers do not need to worry about managing the HGB. Hatstand manages their training and development needs, career development, holiday, sickness, salaries and bonuses.
Upon programme completion clients can convert a HGB to permanent employee (at no cost), retain them as a consultant, or release them back to Hatstand. There is an option to convert the HGB before the 2 year programme is over, for which there is a charge. (or convert to HGB+)
Hatstand offers flexibility to clients and therefore where required can exchange underperforming resources at 1 months' notice or cancel the entire role with 3 months' notice.
During the 2 year programme, Hatstand works with the client line managers to provide bespoke training, to ensure development of HGBs on a technical and business level. Training in the past has included Calypso, Tibco EMS and ION. All agreed training and development is paid for by Hatstand, including the days the HGB is not on site.
Hatstand offers an excellent pastoral package to all HGBs. Formal performance reviews are conducted every six months by Hatstand with client line manager input. Monthly pastoral care is also implemented to ensure objectives are continuously being met. This is achieved through an open evening and monthly social events. Hatstand helps with relocation packages for HGBs and has actively created a community among all HGBs.
